Summary
Responsible for incoming and dispatching 911 calls for the City of Sapulpa
Essential Functions
Attend briefing at beginning of shift with dispatcher going off duty in order to be made aware of and pertinent activities or information occurring on previous shift.
Take telephone calls from the public and logging calls and recording all pertinent information according to established department procedure.
Take information and/or complaints from individuals reporting to the department in person, making reports as necessary.
As necessary, assign call to an officer, dispatching him/her to scene as directed by standard department procedure or by the shift supervisor.
Operate base radio station, within FCC regulations, reporting any observed violation to immediate supervisor for further action.
Monitor radio communication of general city government, fire department, Oklahoma Highway patrol, county sheriff’s office, etc., in order to provide service as needed, and to identify any overlap of activity.
Physically and visually monitor all prisoners, maintain records on all jail bookings, and release of prisoners, processing personal property of prisoners, all according to standard departmental procedure.

Provide information to other law enforcement agencies upon request within departmental guidelines regarding confidentiality and release of information.
Operate various automated devices, sending or receiving data such as information on stolen vehicles and other property, fugitives, police records, vehicle information, etc.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates in a dispatch environment. This position will be exposed to prisoners, bloodborne pathogens, distressed citizens and a stressful atmosphere on a regular basis.
Physical Demands
This is partially sedentary role; however, handling laundry or other items that will include pulling, pushing, twisting, bending, stooping and lifting up to 25 lbs.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position and this is a 24/7 operation.
Travel
Limited travel is expected for this position.
Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent education to perform the essential functions of the position.
Preferred Education and Experience
- High school diploma.
- Two year’s dispatch experience, preferably in a municipal environment.
